You have accessed the Office of the Legal Services Commissioner’s disciplinary register.
Section 577 of the Legal Profession Act 2004 requires the Commissioner to keep a register of disciplinary action taken against barristers and solicitors.
This register contains information about disciplinary action by the Legal Services Commissioner, the Law Society of New South Wales, the New South Wales Bar Association, the Legal Services Division of the Administrative Decisions Tribunal and Superior Courts. At present, the information contained in the register only pertains to practitioners subject to disciplinary action from 4 October 2002.
For information concerning disciplinary action taken against a legal practitioner prior to 4 October 2002 you should contact the Law Society of New South Wales and/or the New South Wales Bar Association.
Information concerning disciplinary action taken against legal practitioners in Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia can now be viewed on these respective websites. It is intended that other jurisdictions in Australia and New Zealand will also be included over time.
We have attempted to make this register as easy to use as possible, requiring that you only need to type in the name of the practitioner. In cases where more than one practitioner has the same or similar name, simply click on each name and check the additional information provided in relation to that name. If it is still not clear, contact the relevant regulatory authority who may be able to help you identify the practitioner.
For those who wish to obtain further information on court decisions, we have provided a hot link to Caselaw which has its own search function.
