The 2007 NSW Violence Against Women Prevention Awards ceremony was held in Sydney on Friday 30 November.
Awards congratulate those who help fight violence against women
Twelve groups and individuals who’ve actively fought violence against women in the community have received special awards today at a ceremony attended the Minister for Community Services Kevin Green.
The NSW Violence Against Women Prevention Awards ceremony was held on 30 November.
“The 2007 NSW Violence Against Women (VAW) Prevention Awards recognises outstanding achievements in raising awareness and actively working to address the problem of violence against women, including domestic and family violence and sexual assault” Minister Greene said.
“The people receiving awards show how important it is for individuals, groups, organisations and businesses to say NO to all forms of violence against women and children.
“Everyone can take an active role in preventing and supporting women experiencing violence – whether it’s organising or attending an event, wearing a white ribbon, calling the police to report a violent act or supporting someone who is experiencing violence.
“The VAW Awards are a really important part of the 16 Days of Activism to Stop Violence Against Women campaign to raise awareness about domestic, family and sexual violence” said the Minister.
“They promote violence prevention initiatives and recognise the valuable contributions of individuals and organisations working to support victims of domestic and family violence and sexual assault” he added.
