A Handbook for Justices of the Peace in NSW The handbook is a guide for JPs in NSW. It constitutes the guidelines issued for the purpose of Section 8 of the Justices of the Peace Act 2002 (the Act). The handbook is written to help JPs understand their duties and to carry out those duties in a proper and responsible manner. The handbook clarifies other obligations of JPs, such as informing the Department of Attorney General and Justice of any changes in their contact details and about matters that might affect their appointments.
